DESCRIPTOIN
The Tree Commission and The Charlottesville Area Tree Stewards (CATS), known collectively in this partnership as Cville Trees, worked together to plant free trees for Charlottesville residents. Approximately 20 trees were planted across Belmont during this neighborhood planting project.
The neighborhood planting program was based on the Charlottesville Urban Tree Study of 2015, in which neighborhoods were identified for potential planting areas in order to increase the city’s tree/canopy coverage. Intended to act as a community amenity, the trees will eventually shade the sidewalks and streets. The program proposes trees as a way to bring the community together!
